Presidential seed grant for HEAL-XR
Kyle Johnsen leads "Healing and Empowerment after Limb Loss in XR," a UGA Presidential Interdisciplinary Seed Grant on virtual reality for people with limb loss.

A UGA Presidential Interdisciplinary Seed Grant (New Frontiers) is supporting Healing and Empowerment after Limb Loss in XR (HEAL-XR). The team, led by Kyle Johnsen with Sun Joo (Grace) Ahn, Fred Beyette, Deborah Barany and Ted Futris, is using extended reality to help people recover from limb loss: distracting from pain, visualizing missing limbs and training with prosthetics, so patients and caregivers can return to productive lives.
