Drawn Together
A co-located mixed reality space where groups sketch, annotate and build ideas together in the room they are standing in.

Drawn Together turns a shared room into a shared canvas. Everyone wears a standalone headset in passthrough mixed reality, so collaborators still see each other’s faces and gestures, while their drawings, notes and 3D objects stay anchored in the same physical place for the whole group.
Participants can sketch in mid-air, place and annotate 3D models, pose mannequins, and arrange idea cards. The system is built on the lab’s open-source VelNet networking, so a session can include a few people or a whole classroom.
We use Drawn Together to study how people create together in mixed reality: how groups divide up space, build on each other’s work, and communicate when the tools are three-dimensional.
